We are expanding our capacity and programming to respond quickly to translation demands. We are currently seeking to develop a roster of program managers and program officers who are available for short to medium-term rapid engagement. These positions are all home-based; candidates will be required to provide their own computers, internet connection, etc. (Note, if based in Nairobi, Kenya, there is the possibility of working within our TWB Kenya office.) Working hours are flexible; we do request that candidates be available for some time during working hours in Europe.
The Role The Project Officer will work closely with the Project Manager to execute on our Words of Relief Crisis project.
Responsibilities
Facilitate TWB’s work with partners in the Words of Relief Rapid Response Crisis Translation project. Implement work plan for project. Ensure project budget is maintained and provide necessary documentation to finance director and accountant. Implementation of the monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) for the project, including internal and external communications of all interim and final MEL reports. Continuously assess the project to inform next state funding. Maintain open and professional relationships with the internal TWB team, TWB volunteers and our partners. Ensure dissemination of proactive, open content for affected populations through a variety of channels. Follow up to ensure agency specific content is disseminated. Work with project manager on monitoring and evaluation, including specific monitoring tools for language-specific communities. Ensure timely and accurate reporting to feed into overall project reports.
Qualifications The Project Officer should be enthusiastic about the importance of increasing access to knowledge through language. The right candidate is an energetic team player and leader who agrees with TWB´s basic beliefs and values and who can work virtually with team members based throughout the world. • Able to innovate to find creative solutions; willing to explore new technologies • Resourceful, able to get more out of small budgets • Experienced project manager • Experienced managing volunteers • Previous experience with non-profit organizations, particularly in development and/or disaster relief, is a plus • Strong writing skills
Requirements • Humanitarian aid experience required; project management degree or experience required • Demonstrated writing experience • Demonstrated social media experience • Track record working with volunteers and small teams • Familiarity with the translation, language or content industries a plus
