TWB is looking to further develop its fundraising expertise to drive the organization toward greater financial sustainability to better achieve our mission to support speakers of marginalized languages.

TWB is at a pivotal moment in its history and is looking for someone who is proactive, hands-on, enthusiastic and ambitious to join our team. As the Grants and Fundraising Coordinator, you will lead a team of three in the development and delivery of the grants and foundations funding strategy. You’ll have sound strategic ability and the skill to attract major funders, using your existing contacts and quickly establishing new ones. You believe technology can work to really help people in need and you thrive in dynamic, innovative, fast-moving environments. You will write and submit funding applications, build relationships with funders and work closely with funders and TWB’s leadership.

The ideal candidate has a strong track record with institutional donors, particularly ECHO, FCDO, USAID and the UN system, in addition to corporate and foundation fundraising, experience in the humanitarian or development sectors, and a knack for understanding what motivates people. The successful candidate will be a dynamic team player, proactive with the ability to take structured guidance and able to ensure that his/her work fits with priorities for the organization.

Main responsibilities:

  • Oversee TWB’s grants and compliance for institutional donors

  • Work with senior managers to develop private sector and foundation fundraising strategy

  • Support on TWB’s registration processes with institutional donors

  • Develop and maintain relationships with private sector foundations and trusts, with senior managers

  • Work in tandem with program staff, TWB’s advocacy efforts, and other members of TWB’s global team to gather metrics and evidence of TWB’s impact.

  • Support campaigns and engagement with high net worth individuals, companies, and philanthropists

  • Explore and develop revenue boosting strategies such as recurring monthly donors and planned giving.

Required

You will need to have demonstrable expertise in leading and delivering a growth funding/fundraising strategy and a thorough knowledge of the international development sector and fundraising within this context. You will have experience working with funders such as institutional donors, trusts, charitable foundations and companies. You will need to have people management skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in humanities, international relations, development or relevant field.

  • 5-7 years experience in fundraising (for the full-time role) or 7-10 years (for the part-time role) with a proven track record in developing at least one income stream.

  • Experience with major international institutional donor grant management

  • Excellent English writing and editing skills. A writing sample will be required.

  • Strong people management skills and attention to detail.

  • Familiarity with unrestricted funding streams and fundraising strategies.

  • Resourceful, creative and able to take initiative.

  • Strong computer skills, including spreadsheets and data management.

  • Demonstrated interest in language, and commitment to TWB’s values.

Desired

  • International experience.

  • Experience with high net worth, private sector and/or foundation fundraising.

  • Experience using CRM and communications tools, such as Hubspot, Salesforce, WordPress, MailChimp, design programs, and cloud software.

  • Experience with capital and multi-year fundraising campaigns.
