Reporting and budgeting
Responsible for collecting, entering and reporting financial information (including budget vs actuals) according to internal and donor requirements and maintaining financial records for projects and for the organization.
Responsible for preparing proposed cost allocations, reviewing against donor budgets and overall organisation budget, raising concerns with budget holders (inc Country Directors and Operations Managers) and uploading into QuickBooks.
General Accounting
Ensure timely and accurate financial reports and practices including financial disbursements and up to date accounting ledgers etc.
Preparation of journal entries to ensure accurate accruals-based management and financial reporting on a monthly basis
Processing of payments, receipts and reconciliation of bank accounts and balance sheet items. The processing of payments includes purchase orders, supplier invoices, expense claims, credit card returns, involves preparing batch payment uploads and using TWBs online systems, Expensify, Zahara and Quickbooks.
Ensure compliance with procurement, expenditure and financial procedures (may be linked to other procedures such as HR)
Other responsibilities
Assist is resolving financial related queries from staff and other stakeholders
Assist with collecting and reporting financial information as required by other staff/donors/partners
Qualifications
The Finance Officer should be enthusiastic about the importance of increasing access to knowledge through language. The right candidate is an energetic team player and leader who agrees with TWB´s basic beliefs and values and who can work virtually with team members based throughout the world.
Able to innovate to find creative solutions; willing to explore new technologies
Resourceful, able to get more out of small budgets
Experienced finance professional
Previous experience with nonprofit organizations, particularly in disaster relief
Great communication skills
Thorough and attention to detail
Requirements
3+ years finance
Part-time options considered for more experienced candidates
Experience in accounting for grants
Humanitarian or development experience desired
Advanced knowledge of Quickbooks Online or similar accounting packages
Knowledge of Purchase order systems, payment systems and Slack communication system
Good Excel / google spreadsheet skills
Professional accounting qualification desired
